New flagship store in Tokyo: Rolf Benz in the fashionable Aoyama district
30.01.2020 Nagold/Tokyo. Black Forest meets Tokyo – Rolf Benz is continuing to expand its position as an international premium brand. In the presence of 300 private individuals, architects and designers who were invited to the event, the design company opened its first flagship store in Japan on 24th January. Situated in Aoyama, one of Tokyo’s most exclusive and in-demand residential areas, the mono-brand store presented its stylish “Made in Germany” living environments over 360 m².
The three-storey building is located close by to large international interior and fashion luxury brands. The Nezu Museum with its famous works of art is right next door, whereas numerous other cultural and architectural hotspots are all within easy walking distance. “Japan and Germany share many common values,” says Jürgen Mauß, CEO of Rolf Benz at the opening event in Aoyama. “We are therefore all the more pleased to be setting another highlight with our flagship store in Tokyo. We are certain that the store will be a success based on our partner’s successful track record over many years.”
Entirely in keeping with the living and social requirements in Tokyo, the new flagship store includes fine and spacious interiors in shades ranging from grey to blue. Just like Rolf Benz’s other mono-brand stores, the building was designed to follow the new architectural brand language that has been deployed worldwide over the last year. The detailed planning of the store was carried out together with Studio Labs Hamburg, a Rolf Benz partner of many years.
With its new offering, Rolf Benz is addressing not only the discerning general public of Aoyama and Tokyo, but renowned architects and designers working in Japan as well. In store, interior experts can individualise their projects with the help of consultants trained in Nagold.
Rolf Benz has had a presence on the Japanese market for over 20 years and is highly esteemed by the local people who are conscious of quality and status. The store opening is part of Rolf Benz’s expansion into Asia. Mono-brand stores based on the same concept were recently opened in Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou and Suzhou in China. The next expansion stage takes place on 12th March, when a flagship store will be opened in Shanghai.
